Electric Umbrella’s Kids’ Club
Where difference takes centre stage.
Electric Umbrella’s Kids’ Club is a way for children to stay connected with Electric Umbrella, whether they’ve met us through a session at school, seen us perform live, caught us on BGT, or simply discovered us along the way.
It’s music and videos made with learning disabled artists for families. It allows children to grow up seeing difference in a positive way, and it gives them something good to be part of.

It’s Not a Crime to Be Different
This Kids’ Club challenge is inspired by our song It’s Not a Crime to Be Different, created with Hertfordshire Constabulary to help children and families talk about kindness, difference and what to do if something doesn’t feel right.
Its a gentle way to explore big topics at home, helping children celebrate what makes us different, and understand that everyone deserves to feel safe, welcome and included.

Start by designing your own Be More Electric Umbrella badge.
Your badge can celebrate kindness, courage, difference and belonging. Think about the colours, words and symbols you could use to show that everyone deserves to feel safe, welcome and included.
Explore
Become a Difference Detective
Watch the It’s Not a Crime to Be Different video together and listen closely to the lyrics.
Then become a Difference Detective. Your mission is to ask questions, get curious and find out something you did not know before about someone else’s life, culture, disability, family, faith, language, feelings or way of seeing the world.
You could ask:
- What makes me, me?
- What makes someone else different from me?
- What can I learn about another person’s experiences?
- Why might someone feel left out or misunderstood?
- What should I do if something feels wrong or uncomfortable?
Remember, if something does not feel right, follow your gut and talk to a parent, carer or trusted adult.

Listen to the Song
Play the It’s Not a Crime to Be Different song and listen closely to the lyrics.
As you watch, think about:
- Who can you see in the video?
- What makes each person different?
- What brings everyone together?
- What does the song teach us about kindness?
- What could you do if you saw someone being treated unkindly?
Then take the official Be More Electric Umbrella pledge:
I pledge to be more Electric Umbrella by celebrating difference, choosing kindness, asking questions, speaking to a trusted adult if something does not feel right and helping everyone feel welcome.
