A Message from Electric Umbrella:
It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of our dear friend and colleague, Mike Wilkinson.
Mike was an important part of the Electric Umbrella and his impact on our community will be felt for years to come.
Our thoughts are with Mike’s family, friends and everyone who knew and loved him during this incredibly difficult time.
As we come together to remember Mike, we want everyone in our community to know that it is okay to feel whatever you are feeling. We are here for one another.
If you’re able, we’ve set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral costs and immediate support for Mike’s wife, Chloe. Any contribution, no matter the amount, would be deeply appreciated
It's Okay to Feel How You Feel
When someone passes, people can experience lots of different emotions.
You might feel:
- Sad
- Shocked
- Confused
- Angry
- Worried
- Numb
- Upset
- Lonely
- Grateful for happy memories
- A mixture of many feelings at once
There is no right or wrong feeling.
Some people want to talk about their feelings. Others prefer quiet time. Some people cry. Some people don’t.
However you are feeling right now is okay.
Remembering Mike at Umbrellafest:
Mike's Garden
Located just off the main stage area, Mike’s Garden will be a peaceful wellbeing and reflection space for anyone who would like a quiet moment during the festival.
The space will include:
- A book of condolences where people can leave messages and memories
- Photos and memories celebrating Mike
- A calm area for reflection and remembrance
- A wellbeing tent for anyone who needs a quieter space away from the festival activities
Mike’s Garden will be overseen by Coral, who will help support the space throughout the event.
We hope this area provides an opportunity for people to reflect, share memories and celebrate the kindness, friendship and joy that Mike brought to so many lives.
